By day, Star Jameson is a locally reknowned social worker who has worked in the fields of mental illness, domestic violence and adolescents (a combination of the first two). But in the various pockets of privacy her days and nights afford her, she is a stunning writer of poetry, prose, and now, her first novel, MEDICINE ROCK.
Based on her experiences traveling with Sun Bear, a Chippewa Medicine Man, the book follows the pair around the country as he fulfills his vision and she grieves her firstborn son's accidental death. Set in 1971, this unusual book documents communes, back to the land movements, the protest movement, and includes pieces on racism and homophobia.
Also devoted to the Dances of Universal Peace, gardening, her grandkids and local food reliance, Star is a wild combination of hippy, grandmother, advocate and righteous radical!
