Now I've done it...one of My Truths will be published by January: MEDICINE ROCK,
based on my experiences traveling with Sun Bear, a Chippewa Medicine Man. The book follows the pair around the country as he fulfills his vision and the heroine, Morning Star, grieves her firstborn son's accidental death. Set in 1971, this unusual book documents communes, back to the land movements, the protest movement, and includes pieces on racism and homophobia.
My status in the greater world feels different, even before I hold it in my hand. People might ask me questions about a past I have carefully shrouded, like a privacy- fenced, private garden abundant with flowers frozen in time. Now I might be viewed as a worshipper of words, oh so true, and what else only time can tell.
To be finished with the writing is a great blessing. To begin the learning curve of marketing is a huge challenge. To move on to other writing sweetens my outlook as the anticipation of a rich chocolate mousse calls to my palate.
Right now, this week or maybe two, I pause to savor all these impressions, congratulate myself on completing a task I set in 1971, knowing nothing of how it might manifest. Thanks for joining me in this endeavor.
