AROUSAL

Frozen ground, unblanketed, hard
absorbs sun and blue sky.
When I walk I feel soil
lilacs,and daphne awakening,
flexing just a little,
coming to conciousness:
the cold nights are shorter
the sun is penetrating their
under layers of winter wraps.
I urge them: snuggle down
It's not over yet.

I love this.... beautifully written. Reminds me that Solstice was more than a month ago. I t doesn't get dark til 5pm now, but still is dark in the early mornings getting ready for work. There is snow here in the Kootenays and will be for weeks to come. What a stretch to think of hard bare ground and oh,.... to be aware of those bulbs and tubers flexing under the soil, stirring in their sleep...to be able to connect to this energy. Yet we see buds on tree and bush when out on snowshoes. I am thinking you will likely still have snow arrive in your neighborhood.Seeds and shooots are best advised to snuggle down and be patient, for awhile yet...... Radha with Thanks

I can't quite feel it yet. Here we are still in the subzero phase. I really enjoy your writing. I should go back and do some posts like that too but..... some memories
